POSTCARD AND DIRECT-MAIL PROMOTIONS:
Postcard #1 (front & back):

Postcard featuring Christopher's "ghost sword."When the hole is punched out, children can use this card to see the magical optical illusions on display at the bookstore (Hollow Face illusion and The Ghost Window, see below). This postcard mailing both introduces the book and lures readers into the store to see the ghostly-magical displays.

Postcard #2 (front & back):

This retinal retention image encourages the viewer to stare at the black figure for a full minute. When the viewer then looks away, a phantom vision floats in the air before his or her eyes. Again, the element of hands-on play encourages the recipient to handle and share this postcard and in so doing to raise awareness of the book series.

Postcard #3 (3D "Lenticular" postcard):

The actual image appears in 3D (impossible to show on the computer screen). The moon is in the deep background while the title seems to "float" in the extreme foreground. Additionally, when the card is turned slightly, the ghost appears to "materialize" in the 3D world of the card. This 8.5" x 5.5" card can be used as a mailing and can also be placed on display in bookshop windows or by the register.

In-Store Promotions
In addition to the Lenticular Postcard, which can be used as a small poster in the store, consider the following powerful, inexpensive, and easy-to-display ideas that have a direct tie-in to CHRISTOPHER QUINN AND THE SPIRIT GLASS:

The Hollow-Face Ratchet Illusion
(in which the “Ratchet” from the book appears to turn his head to watch you).
This illusion is created from a single sheet of paper printed on one side, scissors, and tape. It takes about five minutes to fold it into shape. In the following film clip, only the camera is in motion. Despite the illusion, the Ratchets's heads are not moving (a stunning optical illusion for your store that costs mere pennies):
Note: in future this web page can contain a downloadable image of this Hollow-face Ratchet illusion that bookstores and fans may print and build in their own shops and homes.

And here are more effective, eye-catching and inexpensive in-store promotional ideas that tie in to CHRISTOPHER QUINN AND THE SPIRIT GLASS:

The Floating Yellow Bounder
(in which the character from the book rises and falls at the touch of your hand)
